The Seven Houses of Tyranny

"What is a country without it's ruler?" Rathmostofar once asked his brother, "What is the world without a power to watch over it? And what is that world, when chaos, goes unchecked by such a ruler?"

This is part of the argument Rathmostofar spoke of, when he convinced his comrades to take up the stone's power and enter their quest to rule all of Chryma. Originally, Chryma was a diplomatic society, but had little say in affairs when the Valkyrie were concerned. Among these affairs, were the restrictions of their power (meaning that Chrymian's weren't allowed to practice magics or different arts that the Valkyrie deemed too dark or beyond them to learn, close to cutting them off from all power except for learning the Valkyrie's own lesser magics), restrictions of certain ceremonies and implementing proper burial traditions. The Chrymian people saw them only as they appeared to be and loved the Gods...but Rathmostofar quickly saw that they were no more then power hungry mongrels that wanted to keep a firm leash on his people. After Rathmostofar sent them away, he created his own Empire and instilled new laws that allowed for a humble and less dictatorial society, but still giving him absolute power.

When he made this Empire, he instilled a House known as the House of the Divine, primarily a clan composed of himself, his brothers, his most trusted advisers, friends and family. Those who entered the House of the Divine, became very high in the social class food-chain, effectively giving them near absolute control in the affairs of the common people, while still answering to Rathmostofar. Under this House, six others were implemented to give equal representation to the people, and equal status to all citizens, through this there was never a commoner or peasant class (everyone would be considered to be in the middle class when compared to the Britain's own social class structure back in the 1800's).

The Six Houses of Elements, also known as the Houses of Tyranny, were each given a certain power and structure of representation. Commonly, there were two representatives from each House, the Ruler and the Commander, who listened to their people and both decided on what was best as a whole for the problem that needed to be solved. The two representatives could have completely different vote, totally up a maximum number of twelve votes possible for or against a proposition. The Houses, in order, were the House of Fire, the House of Water, the House of Wind, the House of Earth, the House of Light and the House of Darkness. No House was more important then the other since there were duties each had to uniquely perform. New citizens of Chryma (both born and immigrated) took weekly tests and examinations in specified classes within each House until they are the age of fifteen. Their progress, abilities and personality are then critically examined and they are placed in the House that best mimics their properties.

The House of Fire was Chryma's military power. Next to Rathmostofar, the House of Fire had complete authority over the countries' military, naval and space forces. The House of Fire was also responsible for training all new born Chrymians how to fight and how to use their inborn gifts that they gained at puberty. All new citizens that showed remarkable power as a soldier with absolute obedience and training were placed in the House of Fire, effectively becoming part of the military as young as fifteen years old.

The House of Water was home to Chryma's technological research and also its intelligence division. This House was one of the main reasons Rathmostofar had made it into space. The scientists, mathematicians and scholars within this House were constantly dabbling in new experiments in their laboratories and were on the edge of discovering new technologies to help protect their home and other such things, nearly half the time. They were the ones who had helped to build the Dark Hunter and Ultima Phazon Armors (see Technology in Chryma) and have helped to bring forth new weapons and powers under Rathmostofar. They are also the ones who built specially cloaked satellites that monitor all frequencies across their planet and clear out into Republic Space with the technology Rathmostofar provided them to experiment with. The House of Water tends to blend with the House of Darkness in covert operations since it is their duty to provide intelligence on enemy whereabouts, how many of them there are and other related needs. When students show great knowledge in mechanics, science or philosophical prowess, they are placed here where their talents are put to best use.

The House of Wind, is the Representative team to their world and regulate all matters outside of Chryma. Chosen people in the House of Wind never stay on Chryma for very long for relationships with old allies and new ones constantly demand that representatives of their world leave for a period of time to help relations between the two worlds. Regarded as one of the most influential House on Chryma, they make it all happen. Trade, immigration, mixing of cultural and agricultural desires; it all comes down to the House of Wind to carry those interests over and bring them back. Only the most charismatic of students are placed in the House of Wind, due to the need of charismatic individuals that can easily negotiate for this business.

The House of Earth is regard to most as the "peaceful party". Hardly anyone in the House of Earth has lifted a weapon and used it efficiently. Concerned more on politics, the communal welfare of Chryma and its citizens, they are the political presence in Chryma. They are the ones who negotiate issues with the other Houses and then vote on the resolutions they provide. As well as this, they also regulate trades closely with the House of Wind, making sure that everything goes as planned and that nothing goes wrong. This House is also responsible for the currency regulation in Chryma, watching over equity, taxes and other such things that are implemented, however, they are not allowed to change the currency or alter tax deductions or issue layoffs without first consulting the other five Houses and Rathmostofar himself.

The House of Light, also known as the Justice Party, is the main power in Chryma when it comes to the law. When Rathmostofar does not have status of Rod're fo Irg'th, this House steps in. Rodre fo Irgth is the status quot for Rathmostofar when he is allowed to implement laws, treaties, or declare war without counseling the Houses. Normally, he can't do this without consulting the Houses first, but the proclamation of the right makes it a legitimate act should he choose to do, and it doesn't dissolve until Rathmostofar believes he can return to normal status (either when he's off planet or in war time).

When this right isn't invoked, the House of Light acts as the law enforcement for Chryma and can make laws, bills and can alter current laws, either with a vote from the Houses or a direct choice from Rathmostofar himself. Since Rathmostofar likes to keep a handle on most of the laws and mainstream acts of the law, he prefers that the House of Light goes directly through him before the Houses. The House of Light also has direct control of patrol officers and the other law enforcement teams in Chryma, but in war time, they do not have this power as most of the enforcement is needed by the House of Fire. Only the brightest and the most strong hearted individuals make it into the House of Light; the delegates must also have a strong sense of right and wrong and are able to carry out the law, but also be merciful when needed.

The House of Darkness is a secret House in Chryma. While having no political power over other Chrymians and having no presence in the Grand Counseling Chamber, this House is a power in it's own right for it deals with the more...shadowy affairs. Assassinations, kidnappings, stealthy infiltrations, covert operations and the like, this House is responsible for. They only accept the most coldblooded and ruthless students, swearing them into secrecy on pain of death. Having no actually structure of their own to house them, they work covertly in the other Houses that also suit their personality profiles and they are trained to be masters of deception. They work in other Houses to watch over their activities, reporting any suspicious motives or incidents or open acts of lawlessness or treason. Given the Irg'ht fo Ed'aht, they are allowed to kill anyone suspected of treason or open disrespect of Rathmostofar and the Rulers of the Houses. Only Rathmostofar knows where they meet, he is the only one who can give them orders and he is the only one who knows the identity of the Ruler over the House of Darkness.
